For the Whipped Cream Base
  • 2 ounces cream cheese, softened Adds a delightful tang and stability.
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar Provides sweetness without being grainy.
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Choose a quality brand for intense flavor.
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream, divided Ensure it’s cold for maximum volume.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the flavor.
  • 1 pinch kosher salt Brings out the sweetness.

Method
 

Mixing the Base
  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine cream cheese, confectioners sugar, and cocoa powder. Mix on low speed, then gradually increase to medium for 3-5 minutes until smooth.
Adding Heavy Cream
  1. With the mixer off, add the first 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Start the mixer on medium for 30 seconds until smooth. Repeat for the remaining heavy cream.
Final Mix
  1. Scrape the bowl and mix on medium until stiff peaks form, about 2-3 minutes.
Flavoring
  1. Add vanilla extract and salt, mixing until combined. Avoid overmixing.
Serve
  1. Serve atop cakes, pies, or as a dip for fruit or cookies.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. You can prepare a day in advance.
