Method
Preparation
- In a stand mixer bowl, combine warm milk, 1 tbsp sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add beaten eggs, softened butter, remaining sugar, both flours, and kosher salt. Mix on low speed for about 5 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Grease a large bowl with cooking spray, and place the dough inside. Cover it and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
Assembly
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Roll it out into a 10x15-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
- In a mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese, softened butter, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread this mixture over the dough and top it with the strawberry preserves.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long edge and cut into 9 equal rolls. Place them in a greased baking dish, and let them rise again for about 1 hour.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 325°F. Bake the rolls for 35-40 minutes, or until they’re golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, make the frosting by mixing remaining cream cheese, butter, and confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy. Spread over the top of the rolls once cooled slightly.
Notes
Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, refrigerated for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
