  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts Choose high-quality, fresh chicken for the best results.
  • 1.5 cups sour cream Opt for full-fat sour cream for a richer flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Fresh garlic can also be used—just substitute 1 clove for each teaspoon of powder.
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder Finely chopped onions can be substituted for fresh bite.
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese Sharp cheddar works best, but can be mixed with other cheeses.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter Use for greasing the baking dish.
Optional Garnish
  • to taste n/a chopped parsley or green onions Adds color and brightness to the dish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Place chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish and spread the sour cream mixture evenly over the top.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the sour cream layer.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish loosely with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  3. Allow the dish to rest for 5 minutes before garnishing.

Notes

This dish can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and can be frozen for up to 3 months. Always check for chicken doneness using a meat thermometer.
