Ingredients

For the Rim
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar For coating the rim of the glasses.
For the Cocktail
  • 3 ounces orange juice, freshly squeezed Use Valencia oranges for the best flavor.
  • 3 ounces pomegranate juice Opt for pure pomegranate juice without added sugars.
  • 3 ounces silver tequila Good-quality tequila like Patron or Espolon.
  • 1 ounce triple sec Cointreau is a good choice for a more upscale experience.
  • 1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed Avoid pre-packaged lime juice.
  • crushed ice Essential for chilling the drink.
  • orange slices and pomegranate seeds Optional garnish for presentation.

Method

Preparation
  1. Set out two small plates. On one plate, spread out the granulated sugar. On the second plate, pour 1 ounce of fresh orange juice. Dip the rims of two cocktail glasses into the orange juice, then into the sugar to coat. Set the glasses aside.
Mixing
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add the remaining orange juice, pomegranate juice, tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 to 20 seconds until well chilled.
  2. Fill the prepared glasses with crushed ice, packing it gently but firmly. Strain the orange mixture evenly into both glasses, ensuring it fills each one to the brim.
Serving
  1. Garnish each drink with a slice of orange and a sprinkle of pomegranate seeds, if desired. Serve immediately.
