Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups confectioners sugar I recommend Domino’s brand for sweetness.
  • 1 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder Ghirardelli works wonders for rich chocolate flavor.
  • 2.5 cups powdered milk I swear by Nestlé for creamy texture.
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch Helps to thicken the mix.
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt Enhances chocolate flavor.
Optional Ingredients
  • Mini marshmallows Optional; adds fluffiness.
For Serving
  • Hot water or milk Feel free to use your favorite milk substitute.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the confectioners sugar, cocoa powder, powdered milk, cornstarch, and salt. Use a whisk to blend everything together thoroughly until your mixture is a lovely, smooth, even color (about a minute).
  2. Transfer your hot cocoa mix to an airtight container and store it in a cool, dry place. It will last up to a year.
To Prepare a Cup of Hot Cocoa
  1. Measure about 1/4 cup of the cocoa mix per cup of hot water or milk.
  2. Top your hot cocoa with 1/4 cup of mini marshmallows (if desired). Pour the hot water or milk over the cocoa powder in your cup and stir until fully dissolved.

Notes

Ensure your powdered milk is at room temperature for better mixing. Store in a cool, dry place and avoid moisture and heat to keep freshness.
