Main Ingredients
  • 40 pieces Oreo cookies, crushed into fine crumbs Use regular Oreos, not double-stuffed.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Must be softened for a smooth filling.
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Must be softened to avoid lumps.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 boxes instant vanilla pudding (3.4 oz each) or 1 large box (5.1 oz) Use French vanilla for a lighter flavor.
  • 3 cups cold milk for the pudding
  • 12 ounces whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
Toppings
  • as needed Peeps bunnies or chicks For decoration.
  • as needed candy eggs For decoration.
  • as needed gummy worms Optional for a garden theme.
  • as needed green-tinted coconut or edible grass For decoration.

Method

Preparation
  1. Crush the cookies by adding Oreos to a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin until fine, or use a food processor. Save about 1 cup of crumbs for the top.
  2. In a bowl, whisk pudding mix with cold milk for 2 minutes until thick. Set aside to firm up further.
  3. In a bowl, beat softened butter and cream cheese until smooth, then add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until fluffy.
  4. Fold the prepared pudding into the cream cheese mixture until blended, then gently fold in the whipped topping.
  5. Sprinkle most of the cookie crumbs into the bottom of the 9x13 dish to create a light crust, then spread the creamy mixture on top.
  6. Finish with the remaining cookie crumbs and press gently to adhere.
  7. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or up to overnight.
  8. Prior to serving, decorate with green coconut or edible grass, arrange Peeps, and tuck in candy eggs and gummy worms.

Notes

This dessert can be made up to 24 hours in advance. Save decorations for just before serving to maintain the look. Storing leftovers is fine; it will keep in the refrigerator for about 3 to 4 days.
