  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise Choose a high-quality mayonnaise, preferably organic.
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or full-fat Greek yogurt Greek yogurt adds a nice tang.
  • 3 tbsp minced fresh dill Fresh dill is key; it’s fragrant and deeply flavorful.
  • 1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice Freshly squeezed lemon juice brightens the sauce.
  • 1 1/2 tsp lemon zest Enhances the citrusy aroma.
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt Seasoning is crucial; adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper Adds a mild kick.
  • 1 tbsp cream or milk (optional) For a looser texture.

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, add the mayonnaise, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), minced dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  2. If you like a creamier texture, stir in the cream or milk slowly until desired consistency is reached.
  3. Cover and refrigerate the sauce for about 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld, if time allows.
  4. Taste the sauce after chilling and adjust the salt as necessary.
  5. Serve the sauce chilled or at room temperature over cooked salmon.

Notes

This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week. It can also be made a day ahead for enhanced flavor.
