Preparation
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, add the heavy cream. Mix at low speed, gradually increasing it to medium.
- After 3-5 minutes, when it starts to thicken, reduce the speed back to low and slowly add confectioners' sugar.
- Increase speed to medium, then high, mixing until soft peaks form, approximately 7-10 minutes.
Layering
- In a large trifle bowl, layer one-third of the angel food cake cubes.
- Spread one-third of the whipped cream over the cake.
- Add half of the orange curd, creating a beautiful layer.
- Repeat the layers with another one-third of the cake, whipped cream, and remaining orange curd.
- Finish with the last of the cake cubes and top with the remaining whipped cream.
Chilling and Serving
- You can serve immediately or refrigerate for a couple of hours to let flavors meld.
- Garnish with mint and orange slices before serving.
Notes
Make ahead for best results and store leftovers covered for 2-3 days. Avoid over-whipping the cream.
