Preparation
- In a bowl, add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- In a food processor, add the cottage cheese and blend until smooth—about 30 seconds.
- Combine the blended cottage cheese with the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, dust with a little more flour.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces, roll each piece into a ball, and poke a hole in the middle to form a bagel shape.
- Gently stretch each bagel shape, dusting with flour if necessary.
- Brush the tops and sides of each bagel with the beaten egg, then sprinkle with sesame seeds or seasoning, if desired.
Cooking
- Air-fry at 300°F for 13 minutes or until golden.
- Alternatively, bake in the oven at 375°F for about 25 minutes. Check for a golden crust before pulling them out.
Notes
These bagels are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days. Freeze them for up to a month for longer storage. You can prepare the dough up to 24 hours in advance and then bake or air-fry them fresh.
