  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for topping) For a sweet, crunchy finish.
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping) Enhances the biscuit topping.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F, placing the oven rack in the center position.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt until well combined.
  3. Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until mostly combined, being careful not to overwork the dough.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, confectioners’ sugar, honey, and cinnamon to create the honey butter mixture.
  5. Pour the melted butter mixture into an 8x8-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  6. Place the biscuit dough on top of the butter mixture, gently spreading the dough to the edges of the pan.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon for the topping, and sprinkle this blend evenly over the unbaked biscuit dough.
  8. Cut the dough into 9 equal squares arranged in a 3x3 pattern.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 28-30 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
  10. Allow the biscuits to rest for a few moments before serving, allowing the butter mixture to soak in.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Don’t overwork the dough for light biscuits. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
