Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 2/3 cup water Filtered water will yield the best flavor.
  • 1 handful butterfly pea flowers (fresh or dried) Look for high-quality flowers; dried is often easier to find in specialty stores.
  • 3/4 cup sweetened milk Any milk will work—dairy, almond, oat, or coconut.
  • 2 glasses ice Use chunky ice cubes for a delightful crunch!

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small pot, bring 2/3 cup of water to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Transfer the boiling water to a cup, and add the handful of butterfly pea flowers. Allow the flowers to steep for 2–3 minutes.
  3. With the back of a spoon, gently press the flowers against the cup to extract maximum color.
  4. Position a strainer over a glass carafe or pitcher. Pour in the blue tea, discarding the flowers.
  5. Fill two glasses with ice.
  6. Divide 3/4 cup of milk equally between the two glasses.
  7. Carefully pour the butterfly pea tea over the milk until the glasses are full.
  8. Give the drinks a gentle stir to combine everything, then sit back and enjoy your creation!

Notes

Always look for organic butterfly pea flowers for the best flavor and color. Store leftover blue tea in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 48 hours. Feel free to customize the sweetness and add flavors like vanilla or cinnamon.
