Ingredients
  

For the Blueberry Syrup
  • 1 cup 1 cup (148 g) blueberries Fresh or frozen
  • 3/4 cup 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference
  • 1 cup 4 cups cold water, divided For mixing and diluting the lemonade
For the Lemonade
  • 4-5 large lemons 4-5 large lemons, freshly squeezed (about 1 cup juice) Look for bright yellow lemons for best flavor
  • Crushed ice To serve chilled
  • Lemon slices For garnish
  • Extra blueberries For garnish

Method
 

Prepare the Blueberry Syrup
  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of blueberries, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1 cup cold water. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar.
  2. Simmer for about 5-7 minutes, mashing the blueberries until they burst and release their juices.
Strain the Syrup
  1. Once the blueberries are soft, place a fine mesh sieve over a medium bowl and pour the mixture through it, pressing down to extract as much liquid as possible. Set aside to cool.
Mix the Lemonade
  1. In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice with the cooled blueberry syrup and the remaining 3 cups of cold water. Stir gently to combine.
Serve
  1. Fill a tall glass with crushed ice, pour the blueberry lemonade over it, and garnish with lemon slices and a few fresh blueberries.

Notes

Mix variations with club soda for a sparkling twist. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days, and serve chilled.
