  • 1 1/4 cups bourbon Opt for a quality bourbon like Maker’s Mark or Woodford Reserve.
  • 3/4 cup apple cider Use freshly pressed apple cider for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice Freshly squeezed adds brightness.
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup Choose high-quality maple syrup.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Freshly ground is preferable.
  • 2/3 cup whole milk Avoid low-fat options for creaminess.
  • to taste none crushed ice To chill the drink.

Method
 

Mix the Base
  1. In a large bowl, combine bourbon, apple cider, lemon juice, maple syrup, and ground cinnamon. Whisk until fully combined and frothy.
Add the Milk
  1. In a separate large bowl, pour in whole milk and gently stir in the apple cider mixture.
Chill It
  1. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight.
Strain
  1. Pour the mixture through a coffee filter set over another bowl or pitcher to strain out solids.
Serve
  1. Fill a lowball glass with crushed ice, pour the strained mixture over the ice, and serve immediately.

Notes

Keep any leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days. Make ahead for larger gatherings, but wait to add ice.
