Preparation
  1. Gather your ingredients to ensure a smooth mixing process.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with 2 ounces of Amaretto, 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/2 ounce of simple syrup, and 1/2 ounce of egg white (if using).
  3. Shake the mixture vigorously without ice for about 15 seconds to emulsify the egg white.
  4. Add crushed ice to the shaker and shake again for another 15 seconds to chill the drink.
  5. Strain the mixture into a low-ball glass filled halfway with crushed ice.
  6. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and a twist of orange or lemon peel.

Notes

For best results, chill your glass beforehand and ensure your Amaretto is at room temperature for easier mixing. You can adjust the sweetness or tartness based on preference.
